Smoothing the quilt she remembered how hard it was to find exactly what she wanted. This pattern was the prettiest of all the king quilts she had looked at that afternoon. It was huge and she liked that.
Of all the quilt sets she had looked at, this was the only one that she really liked. It was pretty yellow with soft roses against a beige background. She had four new pillows and shams, plus matching sheets. She put in a lot of effort to find the perfect set.
Her grouping of three plants was impressive. The large one was a floor plant and the two small ones sat on the top of the cherry dresser. The leaves were bright shiny green. Their leaves were reflected in the mirror behind them. She congratulated herself on what she had accomplished.
A pair of gold color Tiffany lamps stood on the matching night tables. There was a wicker basket at the foot of the large sleigh bed. It covered up some of the carvings she loved so much. She went over and moved it into the closet. That was better.
I like those the way they are now she thought as she moved them a final time. The footboard of her sleigh bed was elegantly carved. It gleamed against the hardwood floors. As she walked over to the dresser, she picked up a pile of new lingerie.
She began to stack her new lingerie in one of the drawers. She had bought more than she could wear in six months. It was all so pretty. She chose all colors of the rainbow and some basic black too. No boring white lingerie for her.
She was having fun every day since they won the state lottery. Would she ever get tired of shopping? She didn’t resent paying the huge amount of taxes. She had enough left to invest and generate new income for both of them for two lifetimes.
Planning to donate some money to a few of her favorite charities, she got her checkbook out of the desk and sat down in front of the new computer and opened a browser. Looking up the names, she made out generous checks to her three top favorites.
Her housekeeper, who now earned double what she herself earned before she quit work, stepped in to see if she wanted anything. She thanked her, insisting once more that the woman call her by her first name. We will be more like friends than employer, employee she told her on the day she hired her. She disliked uniforms and formalities. Now with all her riches, she could act however she felt and do whatever she wanted. Tomorrow she would shop for a new dining room set.
