Get Style With Dark Wood Furniture

There is often something exceptionally characteristic about using dark wood furniture in the apartment in terms of the atmosphere it generates. Furniture that is deep and dark seems to somehow give rise to an instant sense of traditional beauty, strength and superiority all at once, regardless of the particular style of the furniture. The dark wood furniture could be in oriental style, traditional Italian, ultra contemporaryor an additional mode, it really doesn’t matter; it’s the depth and richness of shade that truly stands out.
Another feature that we shouldn’t disregard is the variety of wood the furniture has been crafted from – the grain of the wood chosen will add it’s own kind of style to the piece. The most common types of wood used in dark wood furniture are hardwoods such as ash, Mindi wood, oak and Jatoba, and softwoods like pine, spruce and fir. Lighter woods in this list are stained to give them the rich dark color required, while some are naturally dark and require little, if any, staining. For those whose wallets don’t stretch to purchasing solid wood furniture, there are lots ofveneered pieces of furniture that can look as gorgeousthough unfortunately can sometimes fall short of the quality and longevity that solid wood furniture offers.
Some styles of dark wood furniture, (particularly modern and oriental styles) are also lacquered which gives the wood a high gloss sheen and also ensures a tough, cleanable exterior. The shiny finish has the added advantage of bouncing light around the room, and so can be used successfully in small rooms without the need to worry that the dark quality will overshadow a room with a heavy atmosphere (as can be the case with un-lacquered dark wood furniture).
In conjunction with a light decoration, the use of rich, deep, dark furniture produces a gorgeous contrast that brings in qualities of sophistication and refinement to a room with ease. Using dark wood furniture throughout the home can really be a show stopper.
